Pierce-Arrow Society 2026: Rare Pre-War Classics Gather in the Carson Valley
Most car enthusiasts know about Hot August Nights. Fewer know about the Pierce-Arrow Society, a club dedicated to preserving one of America's most distinguished luxury automobile brands, and the fact that its annual meet is returning to the Carson Valley in 2026. From August 27 through 29, some of the rarest pre-war cars in North America will gather in Minden, Nevada for the 68th Annual Meet of the Pierce-Arrow Society, and the general public is invited to see them on display.
What Is a Pierce-Arrow?
For anyone unfamiliar with the marque, Pierce-Arrow was one of the "Three Ps" of American pre-war luxury automobiles, alongside Packard and Peerless. Manufactured in Buffalo, New York from 1901 to 1938, Pierce-Arrow cars were known for their engineering excellence, their distinctive fender-mounted headlamps, and a client list that included presidents, industrialists, and royalty. At their peak, Pierce-Arrow cars competed directly with Rolls-Royce and Duesenberg. A 1932 Pierce-Arrow Model 54 convertible sedan sold for over $4,000 in the depths of the Great Depression, equivalent to roughly $90,000 today. Only about 800 Pierce-Arrow automobiles are known to survive worldwide, making every appearance a rare sight.
Why the Carson Valley?
The Pierce-Arrow Society has a long history with Northern Nevada. The club held its annual meet in Minden in 2013 and again at Lake Tahoe in 2003, and the membership has consistently praised the region's roads, scenery, and hospitality. For 2026, the meet will be headquartered at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, with a program that reads like a road trip through the best of the area's automotive landscape.
Friday begins with a welcome gathering and a tour of a private car collection in Minden. Saturday features a scenic drive through the Carson Valley to historic Genoa, Nevada's oldest permanent settlement, where participants will stop for lunch at the Genoa Bar and visit the Dangberg Historic Ranch. The weekend culminates in a judged Car Show and public display on Saturday afternoon, followed by a banquet on Saturday evening. Sunday offers a final group drive through the valley.
For the general public, the Saturday afternoon car show at the Dangberg Ranch is the main event. This is where you will see Pierce-Arrows spanning the entire production run, from early brass-era cars to the streamlined V-12 models of the late 1930s. It is not every day that you can walk among a field of cars that shaped the American luxury market before World War II, especially in a setting as fitting as a historic Carson Valley ranch.
The Collector Connection
The Pierce-Arrow Society's return to the Carson Valley underscores something that local enthusiasts already know: Northern Nevada is an outstanding place to own and store classic cars. The high desert climate is naturally protective of metal and rubber. The open roads are free of the salt and corrosion that plague vehicles in other regions. And the communities from Minden to Gardnerville to Carson City are welcoming to car collectors who want space for their passion.
If you are a car enthusiast considering a move to the area, the Carson Valley offers some of the best garage-friendly properties in Northern Nevada. Homes with oversized shops, detached workshops, and room for a growing collection are available throughout the Minden and Gardnerville area. Browse homes in Carson Valley to see what is currently available for collectors and car enthusiasts.
For those who need dedicated workshop and storage space for restoration projects, the options are even more compelling. Browse homes with workshops and find a property where your collection has room to grow.
A Weekend Worth Planning For
Whether you own a Pierce-Arrow or have never seen one in person, the 68th Annual Meet is a rare opportunity to experience a piece of American automotive history in a setting that few other venues can match. The Carson Valley in late August is beautiful, with warm days, cool evenings, and the full Sierra Nevada range as a backdrop. The Dangberg Ranch, established in 1857, provides a historic stage for cars from the same era.
Mark your calendar for August 27 through 29. The Saturday car show at Dangberg Ranch is free and open to the public. Come see what American luxury looked like before the war, talk to the owners who keep these cars running, and experience a corner of Northern Nevada car culture that most people never know exists.
